Adjunct Faculty – Economics at the Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM)

Job Title: Adjunct Faculty – Economics

Location: Lagos

Role Overview

  • NUTM invites applications from highly qualified and dedicated individuals to teach undergraduate courses in Economics.
  • As an adjunct faculty member in the Economics department, you will play a vital role in shaping our students’ understanding of economic principles and theories. This position is part-time and offers flexibility in scheduling.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Course development and instruction:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Economics, covering macroeconomics.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lectures, discussions, and activities that promote critical thinking and application of economic concepts.
  • Assist students in understanding economic theories and principles through effective explanations, examples, and real-world applications.
  • Develop and evaluate course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and assessments, to ensure alignment with learning objectives.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement, diversity, and intellectual curiosity.

Mentorship and student evaluation:

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments and assessments, fostering their intellectual growth and development. Research and departmental duties
  • Stay current with economic research and industry trends to incorporate relevant and up-to-date information into teaching.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and assessment activities to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Economics program.

Preferred Candidate

  • A Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Economics or a related field.
  • A doctoral Degree is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of microeconomic and macroeconomic principles and their applications.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate economics courses is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with economic analysis tools and software, such as EViews, Stata, or R.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively convey complex economic concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented academic setting.
