With Three Specific Examples Discuss Why Philosophy Is Regarded As a Mother of All Discipline
Philosophy is the fundamental study of ideas and all the abstract issues that concern humanity and mankind as a whole. It seeks the truth, and how to reach it in the many fields of study that it contains. It isn’t like the sciences; it does not conduct experiments and depends on them, nor is it an art; the philosopher doesn’t express himself through philosophy or use it to portray his sentiments — philosophy shouldn’t encapsulate the feelings of the philosopher. Philosophy is also, contrary to what people believe, not a religion or a belief.
In essence, philosophy as a mother gives birth to a field through asking questions, and nurtures through study that field until it is mature enough to live on its own and leave the nest of philosophy. Philosophy is the mother of all disciplines because it gave birth to and nurtured every other discipline that exists today.
Philosophy studies everything, from physics to mathematics, to ethics, law and politics, to psychology, sociology, and language. That is, aside from studying subjects that are specially philosophical, like how knowledge is obtained, what is knowledge, the existence of knowledge, is it possible to know, etc.
More importantly, philosophy studies perception which puts all other forms of knowledge on the edge, because every science strongly depends on it.
I believe that philosophy is the mother of all discipline because it was the starting point of most of the sciences that we study today, and if it wasn’t for those ancient philosophers (and a lot of modern philosophers) then nothing would’ve been as it is today.
Also, because philosophy, in my humble opinion, is the most important science, because there is no field of knowledge that truly discusses who we are from our points of view, and I see that as something that is truly essential; we are everything to ourselves, and we need to know what we are to ourselves in order to understand ourselves.
Philosophy, in constant repetition, opens new subjects to the sciences to discuss, and without philosophy or philosophical methods, we cannot reach new information. We can define from that philosophy as the method we use to acquire new formulated ideas. Experimentation done after is just to prove what is written on paper, and that is the best way to come up with new information. The theoretical way is the safest and wisest choice.
