Utilization Of Improvised Instructional Materials And The Teaching Of Biology Among Secondary School Teachers

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to examine the Utilization Of Improvised Instructional Materials And The Teaching Of Biology Among Secondary School Teachers. Research hypotheses were postulated to guide the study. The population of the study was all the Biology teachers in all the secondary schools in the study area. The total population was twenty-four (24) Biology teachers in all the secondary schools in the study area. Survey research design was employed to carried out the study. The sample size for the study was all the twenty-four (24) Biology teachers in Eket Local Government Area.

The instrument used in collecting the needed data for the study was researcher’s made questionnaire called Utilization of Improvised Instructional Materials and Teaching of Biology Questionnaire (UIIMTBQ). The data collected were analyzed using independent t-test statistical method. The result of the findings revealed that utilization of improvised instructional materials has significant difference between Biology teacher’s who teach effectively with the use of improvised materials. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that teacher’s should be resourceful, improvised and utilizes instructional materials to enhances the teaching in secondary schools.
